I've recently been chatting to Geoff Fermor who owns Sport Marine Ltd, based at Greendale Business Park, Woodbury Salterton,  nr. Exeter.  Geoff is importing some most impressive small fast leisure angling boats from the USA.

At present he has two new models a 21 foot and a slightly larger "flying machine" the "220" which promise hours of pleasure.  Both the new boats are fitted with marine inboard diesel engines.  They do look very high quality and particularly attractive.

The details on this page will show you that, although the Powerglide is only a little over 30 ft long it immediately gives you the big boat feel.

The outside deck is now  built as a fully moulded unit and has all hatches and fish boxes moulded in the one piece unit. Inside the wheelhouse the story is the same. A fully moulded floor with steps down to the fore cabin which has a bathroom / shower, twin V berths and small kitchen area. All easy to keep clean and a very open, light look. The large steering console is also integrally  moulded into the structure and keeps everything neat and tidy.

The windows have been re-styled to remove the look of the upright mullions.

All of our engine options will give you at least 30 knots of top speed and a minimum cruising speed of 21 knots and up to 25 knots. Long range cruises can be accomplished in a very short time and average speeds are usually well in excess of 20 knots even through difficult conditions.

Built as standard to the MCA code of practice for 60 miles offshore. All you have to do is add your required safety gear to the craft.  Declaration of Conformity  (CE Mark) is available for those not wishing to use the boat professionally.

This boat will suit any charter skipper or private owner that requires a good safe and reliable craft to help earn his living. The layout is simple and uncomplicated. All the construction has been refined during the course of Rod Bakers boat building career since 1974.

"I regularly browse your web pages having been introduced to it by Dean Corbett when we sold him the "Deborah Jane" which we fitted out at our yard in Axminster in Devon.

We have now moved to smart new premises in Chard in Somerset and have also designed and built a new charter/sports fishing boat called the Vigilante 33 the first of which is currently in production and being built to the highest standards S.F.I.A  approved and M.C.A.

We are also in the process of opening a one stop shop for boating and we intend to sell new and second-hand boats from our secure ½ acre hard standing site, together with being a Raymarine approved service centre, Volkswagen Marine engine main dealer and Yamaha outboards and stern-drives main dealer for which we provide a mobile service covering a very wide area.

21st June 2006 - Brian Emailed me a photo of the newly completed Vigilante 33 which he is now building and selling at Lyme Boats.  She does look very good.  I look forward to a sea trial in the not too distant future.

Tuesday 29th May 2007 - Brian Pogson Lyme Boats "Vigilante" 25 Foot New Version - Email received late yesterday from Brian Pogson, whose company, Lyme Boats, build the very well appointed Vigilante 33.  (MC comments - I briefly overviewed of this superb craft on 27th May - Trip aboard "Outlaw".  I am very favourably impressed.)  Here's what Brian had to say:

We have started moulding the first Vigilante 25, based on the same mould as the Vigilante 33.  She will have massive deck space and can be powered by shaft or stern drive applications.  Basic boats will come in around £70,000 to £75,000 plus VAT depending on engine installation.
