TACKLE TIPS - REEL SERVICING - USE YOUR CAMERA

When you strip down a fishing reel, particularly a "Multiplier" model, you will see a vast number of components which, after stripping down for cleaning and lubrication must be reassembled in a very precise order, if you are not to get into a terrible muddle.

Many anglers own a camera.  Why not use it to take a photo of the components as you strip them down, so you can see later in what order to reassemble them.  It is amazing just how quickly you can otherwise forget exactly how a cog or spring is located in relation to other parts.

In these days of digital cameras, it is even more instantaneous and you can blow up the image on your computer screen to zoom in closer for added detail if you need a more precise view.

Why not make a sketch to show you which way up such items as washers with cupped surfaces are located?

You can quite often thread items such as clutch components which must reassembled in a particular order on to a piece of wire for safe keeping in the correct sequence.
