TACKLE TIPS - REEL SERVICING - REMOVE BEARING

When stripping down a multiplier reel for cleaning, one tricky job can be getting the bearing out of the side plate.  It's made difficult because the bearing is flush fitting and you can't get a purchase underneath to pop it out.

The answer is to use a drill bit.  Try different sizes until you find a snug fit, then simply rock the bearing back and forward whilst lifting.  The bearing will gently ease itself out.

Picture attached shows this technique being used on a Shimano TLD 25

Next job is to wash it out.

If the bearing needs replacing - then contact Paul Bright at Reel Value.
