ANKA YANKA

Many small boat anglers who do not have room aboard their own small craft for a motorised or electric winch, will be familiar with the “Alderney Ring” method of anchor retrieval.

The anchor chain and rope are fed through a steel ring to which a substantial flotation buoy is attached.

When you wish to haul your anchor the boat is driven forward at speed and the rope and chain is pulled up through the metal ring which is supported on or near the surface by the flotation buoy.

The anchor eventually comes to rest upside down in the “Alderney Ring” where it floats just below the buoy.

It is then a relatively simple and comparatively effortless job to retrieve the rope and anchor back into the boat by hand, coiling the rope and chain back on board in its container.

I have used this system myself for many past years.  Provided a little care and common sense is exercised it is a foolproof and convenient method.

The “Anka Yanka” has improved dramatically on the basic “Alderney Ring” system.

It is also subject to a world wide patent, so please don’t try to copy the design yourself.

The major advantage is that you can slip the “Anka Yanka” on to or off your anchor rope at will by simply releasing the secure clip system.  It is very convenient.

For example, in my own small boat I cannot pass the flotation buoy through the opening window in the front of my cuddy, because it is far too large to fit.  This means that I have to throw the anchor and chain overboard from amidships.  I hate to recall the many times I threw my old “Alderney Ring” overboard, having forgotten to attach the buoy to it beforehand.

With my “Anka Yanka” I can simply attach the ring device after the anchor has been lowered or raised, with far less fuss and inconvenience.  It is this feature of safe detachability which makes the “Anka Yanka” so unique and useful.

If you do not have experience of using this or similar systems, the “Anka Yanka” comes complete with detailed instructions.

The supplier can also send you a suitable flotation buoy in a range of sizes to suit your particular set up, or you can buy the “Anka Yanka” complete and ready to use via the web site.

The “Anka Yanka” costs just £40 including P&P.
