TAVISTOCK TROUT

Many of you, as I do, enjoy flicking the fur 'n' feather at Trout.

Here's a little something on which to feast your eyes, it's a huge Rainbow Trout, weighed in at a staggering 29 lbs 4 ozs, by Tavistock Trout Fishery regular, Mike Conner, from Exeter on the 10th August 2002.

It upstaged what was, until then, the season's previous best, a Rainbow which weighed 27lbs 4ozs 8dr, caught at Tavistock on the 9th March 2002, by William Chamberlain from Portsmouth.

That fish narrowly pipped Ken Darby's 26lb 1oz Rainbow, caught in April 2000.

Abigail Underhill has specialised for several years in breeding very large Trout.  The previous British Record was held at Tavi, with a fish of 30 lbs 12 ozs.

Tavistock also holds some excellent Brown Trout such as the 12 lb 11 oz specimen captured by Calvin Morgan from Monmouth in June 2002.
