BRIAN WOODGATE SKERRIES SOLE

Email received from  - Steve Saunders - Back at work in Hemel Hempstead.

As summer finally arrived in Dartmouth, it was time to pack our bags & return to work.  Not very good timing!

I had a good days trout fishing at Newhouse Fisheries near Moreleigh & caught a three & half pounder & a cracking Rainbow just under eight pounds.

Saturday was my last chance to get out in a boat. By mid morning it was full steam ahead to the Skerries bank on Brian Woodgate's privately owned boat, "EMMA of DARTMOUTH".

Our first drift across the bank produced a fine sole for Brian.(the one with the beard!) The rest or the days bag included a good size Place, Again caught by Brian & a mixed bag of Mackerel & Gurnard.

I had expected to catch a nice flatty myself. Unfortunately most of my day was spent baiting Brians hooks; untangling his line; keeping the boat in the right direction; trying to understand sea charts & keeping his stamina up on a diet of scotch eggs & Mars bars.

Only joking Brian thanks for a smashing day.

It was hard to leave Dartmouth especially as Mike had told me he had caught some Bass. Hopefully we're be back soon for some bass fishing as well.

Regards Steve.
